Together with Paul Topham, Reader in Polymer Chemistry at Aston University and Elena Patyukova, a PhD graduate of Moscow State University, Martin Greenall has secured an individual EU Marie S. Curie fellowship for Dr Patyukova to work on a combined experimental and theoretical project on hydrogen bonding in copolymer mixtures.

Dr Danilo Roccatano was awarded supercomputer time by EPSRC (UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) for two 6 months pilot projects at ARCHER, UK national High Performance Computing facility. The first project required passing ARCHER Driving Test :); the second is a collaboration Dr. Steve Hayward from the University of East Anglia.
10 weeks summer undergraduate research internship
Nuffield Foundation awarded Undergraduate Research Bursary to UCLan. The award of £1440 was made to the project “Computer modelling of nano-materials” (supervisor – Dr Marco Pinna) and will allow UCLan undergraduate 3rd year MPhys student Christine Stokes to work in our group for 8 weeks during the summer.
2009: Marco Pinna receives HPC-Europa2 Transnational Access programme grant to visit and work at Barcelona Supercomputing Centre. The project is a collaboration together with Dr Ignacio Pagonabarraga from the University of Barcelona.
