Dayna Grimshaw joined the School of Mathematics and Physics after completing her Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Science at the University of Lincoln. After finding a particular interest in drug formulations and delivery, she decided to take a more theoretical approach to deepen her understanding of drug release from polymer-based formulations, in preparation for a potential PhD project. Her research is based on research done at UCLan in which 3D printed, channelled tablets were created and the drug release measured. Dayna will build on this research to develop a mathematical model through coding and running simulations to describe the drug release to gain an understanding of the physicochemical mechanisms underlying in vitro release.
She also writes a blog to monitor her research which you can follow here.
