On 17-18th December, Claire attended the British Society of Rheology’s Mid-Winter Meeting on “Complex Fluids for Performance”. This year the meeting was held at the University of Birmingham’s Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre.
Talks ranged from food hydrocolloids and chocolate to oilfield rheometry and polymer-bonded explosives. The Society also awarded it’s Annual Award to Prof. Helen Wilson for her work on modelling non-Newtonian fluids and it’s Vernon Harrison prize for the most distinguished PhD thesis in rheology to Dr. Rahul Chacko for his work in dense suspension rheology.
It was fantastic to see how rheology can be utilised to study complex formulations in both the research and industrial environments.
