Marco is from Villacidro (Ca), Sardinia, Italy. He is a Physics graduate from the University of Cagliari, where he wrote Laurea thesis “A theoretical study of structural properties of native defects in GaAs” under the supervision of Professor Luciano Colombo. This research involved a heavy use and some modification of the Tight Binding Molecular Dynamics (TBMD) written in Fortran 77.
In October 2005 Marco started his PhD project in our group on block copolymer systems. He was awarded the doctorate on 4th November 2009. His work won IoP Computational Physics PhD Thesis Prize 2009. Marco continued here as a Research Associate in Computational Physics on EU/EPSRC project about modelling of block copolymer/nano-particle hybrid materials for new memory devices.
From 1st July 2011 till August 2014 Marco was a Senior Research Fellow in Computational Physics in the School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences at UCLan.
In September 2014 Marco started as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Maths and Physics at University of Lincoln, Brayford Pool, Lincoln, LN6 7TS.
