On 31st Jan two experts in multi-scale modelling visited to discuss simulating Atomic Force Microscopy in solution with Matt Watkins’ group and give the physics seminar.  Gennady N. Chuev from the Institute of Theoretical & Experimental Biology, Russian Academy of Sciences (Pushchino, Moscow Region, Russia) managed to summarise classical density functional theory and integral equation theory in half an hour(!), while Dmitry Nerukh from the Systems Analytics Research Institute, Department of Mathematics, Aston University talked about combining molecular dynamics with hydrodynamic models.
